Substance:
The poet Longfellow here expresses his joy as he enjoys the diverse and beautiful nature in spring in the month of April. The warm sun with the advent of spring brings seed time and harvest. The still wood looks pleasant with the appearance of the first flower.
The open spaces in the wood are filled with flowers, and the clouds indicate the approaching storms. Saplings grow in the soft soil and the winter-stricken bent trees are infused with new life.
The woods are filled with the sweet chirping sounds of birds as they fly with their colourful wings around the woods. The bright sunset covers the silver woods and the caves look shadowy when the highland is lit up.
